Amazon rewards workers who have been vaccinated with free cars to encourage the vaccine

Amazon has given cars and cash rewards of 100,000 dollars to a group of vaccinated warehouse workers as part of ongoing competitions to encourage employees to get vaccinated. Four warehouse workers and a Whole Foods employee received cars worth up to $40,000. And that's after they provided evidence of the Covid-19 vaccination.

The company announced the matter through an Instagram post on its Amazon Vest Life account, which spreads news and content about the lifestyle of front-line employees. Last week, three warehouse employees and Whole Foods employees received cash prizes of $100,000 for getting the vaccination, the company said in a separate Instagram post.

In August, Amazon launched sweepstakes to reward employees who received a Covid-19 vaccine and encourage those who would not get the vaccines. The contest is called Max Your Vax, and it offers employees a chance to win cars and a week of paid vacation complete with a $12,000 vacation package, plus cash prizes of $100,000 and $500,000.

Eighteen prizes worth nearly $2 million are awarded this month through October 21, according to Amazon. To participate, employees provide proof that they have received the entire vaccination via an internal website.

The company said it believes vaccination is critical for employees to protect themselves and their communities. The company added that Amazon has held more than 1,500 on-site vaccination events for employees and their families. Amazon did not require front-line workers to get vaccinated. But this contest is a wake-up call to encourage vaccination.

The company has also offered bonuses of up to $100 to employees and new hires who show evidence of vaccination. Amazon is keen to get hundreds of thousands of frontline workers vaccinated. The covid delta variant is spreading rapidly around the world.

The company has resumed some safety measures related to the Covid-19 that was previously in place. Including mandates for masks in US warehouses. In addition, the company is working to restart a coronavirus testing program in its warehouses after completing on-site testing facilities, the Seattle Times reported.
