The French studio Shiro Games is best known for the Evoland series and the Viking strategy of Northgard. But now he's embarking on something completely different. The PC Gaming Show announced an open-world RPG called WarTales.
In it, we take on a group of mercenaries traveling around the kingdom and trying to survive. This part takes place in real-time, but the fights are turn-based. The developers admit that they were inspired by games like Baldur's Gate 3 or Divinity. But we do not expect any fantasy elements, it should be a realistic Middle Ages without any supernatural monsters. Unlike other open-world games, we don't have to wait for the main story. The authors claim that each region will offer it's own smaller story.
The game will be released in a preliminary approach later this year, in which it is to spend about a year and a half. So far, it is aimed only at the PC. From 16 to 22 June, you will be able to try a demo version at the Steam Next festival.
