China's "Terrestrial Ecosystem Carbon Monitoring Satellite" opens for registration

According to the National Space Administration's News and Publicity Center, China's " terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite " is expected to be launched in early August, and the recruitment campaign is now open.

According to reports, the terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite is developed by the Fifth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. It uses a laser, multi-angle, multi-spectral, hyperspectral, polarization, and other comprehensive remote sensing methods to detect vegetation biomass and productivity and monitor the atmosphere. Aerosol distribution, while meeting the needs of geographic mapping, disaster assessment, remote sensing of agricultural conditions, etc., and serving users in forestry, environmental protection, surveying and mapping, meteorology, agriculture, disaster reduction, and other industries, will significantly improve the quantitative level of land remote sensing in China.

The terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite can provide remote sensing monitoring services in the fields of carbon storage monitoring, detailed investigation of ecological resources, and monitoring and evaluation of major national ecological projects. and dominance.

The call for names is from July 13, 2022, to July 20, 2022.
