China: The recycling volume of scrapped new energy vehicles in Guangdong increased

With the continuous development of new energy vehicles, the recycling of end-of-life new energy vehicles is also developing. On August 12, the Guangdong Department of Commerce organized a "Video Conference on the Management of the Recycling and Dismantling Industry of Scrap Motor Vehicles".

In order to strengthen the management of the scrapped motor vehicle recycling and dismantling industry, the Guangdong Department of Commerce invited the person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Material Circulation Association and the person in charge of the Guangdong scrapped motor vehicle recycling and dismantling enterprise to attend the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that in the first half of this year, Guangdong Province recycled and dismantled 360,000 scrapped motor vehicles. Among them, 191,000 scrapped motor vehicles were normally recycled (excluding vehicles seized and confiscated by relevant departments), a year-on-year increase of 37.9%. 115,000 end-of-life vehicles were normally recycled, a year-on-year increase of 60.9%. The meeting indicated that this increase was mainly due to the influence of local trade-in subsidy policies.

In addition, in the first half of this year, the recycling volume of scrapped new energy vehicles in Guangdong Province increased significantly by 132% year-on-year. This means that under the continuous development and transformation of enterprises, the overall level of the industry has been greatly improved.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a symposium on the comprehensive utilization of new energy vehicle power batteries on August 1. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that it will study and formulate the "Administrative Measures for the Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries" and the industry's urgently needed standards to improve power battery recycling. Utilize the system to improve the level of power battery recycling.
