Forbes: Tesla CEO Elon Musk tops America's richest list for the first time

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is now the richest man in the United States. Forbes released the 2022 list of the 400 richest Americans, in which Musk ranked first with a worth of $251 billion, far ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who ranked second with $151 billion.

Bezos topped the list last year with $201 billion, and Musk came in second with $190.5 billion.

Notably, one person didn't make the top 10 this year Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who dropped to No. 11 with a fortune of $57.7 billion. Hit by inflation and falling markets, the total net worth on the Forbes 400 this year is $4 trillion, down 11 percent from a year earlier and $500 billion less than a year ago.
