Ford Focus ST Edition: Improved Formula

The Ford Focus is one of the most dynamic compacts on the market and its sportiest version of all, the ST, is a favorite of all those looking for a sports compact within the European continent. Its formula is outstanding, but the brand's engineers wanted to fine-tune it, which is why they have introduced a series of changes to the chassis with the aim of optimizing the behavior of the Fiesta's older brother. The end result is called the Ford Focus ST Edition.

Improved dynamism

The automaker describes this car as the most agile Focus ST to date thanks to its high-performance adjustable suspension. Thoroughly tested by the Ford Performance team, including at the Nürburgring, the chassis features two-way adjustable coilovers, dual-tube stainless steel shock absorber housings, and specific springs sourced from KW Automotive. Compared to a standard Focus ST, the ST Edition sits 10mm closer to the ground with an additional 20mm adjustment available additionally.

If you are unsure which suspension setting is right for your next trip, Ford will deliver the car with a special white paper, which provides recommended suspension settings for various usage situations, including a special Nurburgring mode for one-time use. in the circuit. Another major improvement over the standard version of the sports compact comes in the form of a set of 19-inch forged wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires - which reduce unsprung mass by 10%.

No changes under the hood

Ford has chosen not to make any changes to the engine compartment, where a turbocharged 2.3-liter in-line four-cylinder is located. The EcoBoost block generates 280 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 420 Nm between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm, being its best ally a six-speed manual gearbox and an electronically operated limited-slip differential, which allows deflection up to 100 % of torque to one of the front wheels. With all this, the compact sports car will reach 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

Available in the exclusive Azura Blue exterior color and with various glossy black accents, the ST Edition will not be available in all markets as it will only be marketed in some European countries, such as Germany and the United Kingdom. For now, it will not be available in Spain.
