Google's Russian branch files for bankruptcy

The Russian satellite news agency previously reported that the Russian branch of the US Google company started its own bankruptcy. In response, a Google spokesman told Reuters that Russian authorities had seized Google’s Russian bank accounts , rendering its Russian branch inoperable.

" Google Russia has issued a notice of intent to file for bankruptcy, " a Google spokesman said.

It was previously reported that on Wednesday, local time, data from the Federal Register of Economic Activity Subjects in the Russian Federation showed that the Russian branch of IT giant Google started its own bankruptcy proceedings for failing to meet its financial obligations.

According to the claims filed by the Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor, Google needs to pay a turnover fine of more than 7.2 billion rubles (about 756 million yuan) so far.
