How to customize your iPhone app icons?

Have you ever wanted to make your iPhone unique, with your own style and individual taste? Sure you can change your home screen wallpaper, but if you really want to personalize your phone why not create your own app icons?

It can be done with Apple's built-in Shortcuts app, as it won't prompt you to replace the icons that apps come with - instead, you'll create separate shortcuts that lead to the app.

Here is how to do it...

First, find and tap the Shortcuts app, it's pre-installed; If you can't see them right away on your home screen, swipe left until you reach the App Library and start typing "shortcuts" in the top search bar.

Once in the application, click on the "plus" sign in the upper-right corner and then on "Add Action".

There are a lot of fun things to try in the shortcuts, but for now, what we want to do is switch the app icons, type “open app” in the search bar, and then hit the “open app” link.

Click on the word "choose", you will see a list of your applications; Choose the one you want to customize and you will be taken back to the new shortcut page.

Select the three dots in the top-right corner to get to the details page, enter a name for your shortcut and tap "Add to Home Screen", you'll find a preview of the icon (which will be an uninteresting standard icon that shortcuts will automatically add), then select Add in the top-right corner.

Now it's time to find your replacement icon, there are a bunch of icon sources online, or if you're artistic and/or ambitious, you can create your own, whether you're using someone else's images or your own, save the image in the pictures.

The user then has to go back to the shortcuts preview area, (you can find it again by going to the Details section and clicking on Add to Home Screen.)

Click the icon under "Home screen name and icon", you will have the option to either take a photo, choose a photo, or choose a file. Assuming you've already saved a picture in the picture, click "Choose Picture" and select the picture you want to use.

On the next screen, the highlighted area will indicate which part of the image will appear as an icon; You can move the image until you are satisfied with the indicated section, press "Select" in the lower right corner.

After these steps, the user will find his new icon by pressing add.

You should see your new custom icon on your home screen. But there is a chance that you will see two new icons on your home screen: one with the first boring icon and one with your new icon, if that's the case, just press and hold on the icon you don't want, then select "Delete bookmark" Remember that this (and the other that you created) is a bookmark/shortcut not the original.

You can also hide the original app icon so that only the new icon appears. (You don't want to delete it completely, this would delete the app.)

Long press on the original app icon and select "Modify Home Screen".

Press the minus sign, in the pop-up menu, tap "Remove from the home screen", the original icon will not be deleted, it will only be hidden; You can always find it in the application library.

But when you use your new icon to go to the app, you'll sometimes get a little dropdown notification telling you the name of the original app and reminding you of the fact that it's a shortcut, but the dropdown will only last for a second or two, so it shouldn't be a big concern.
