iOS brings a YouTube feature to iPhone users

After a long wait, iPhone and iPad users, who subscribe to the "Premium" service, will soon be able to take advantage of the picture-in-picture feature when watching YouTube. This comes after a period of introducing this feature to Android users, where they could enjoy YouTube videos while using other applications. YouTube confirmed that the feature has now been rolled out to the application on iPhone and iPad devices.

The picture-in-picture (PiP) feature allows users to watch YouTube videos while browsing or opening other applications on their mobile devices. The feature is currently rolling out to YouTube Premium users on the iOS operating system, and YouTube plans to release it to all iOS users in the US as well.

In order to activate the PiP feature on YouTube, users must play a video on the app while dragging it to the home page, and the video will continue to play in a small player that can be moved by dragging or resized by tapping with two fingers.

The similar “Apple PiP” feature was launched on iPhones, last year, as part of the iOS 14 update, and it supported many applications, including Netflix, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, and Apple TV, But it was not compatible with YouTube.
