Kia electric car with a ground clearance of more than 300 mm is presented

Kia has unveiled the Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition, which is designed specifically for surfers. Kia is the automotive partner of the major UK surfing and music festival Boardmasters 2021. Boardmasters runs from 11-15 August and Kia will be showcasing the Soul EV Boardmasters Edition throughout the event for festival-goers to experience it.

The Zero Emission Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition features a 64 kWh battery and a 150 kW (201 hp) electric motor. The standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and 215/55 R17 tires have been replaced by 16-inch bright white steel wheels and massive 265/75 R16 Maxxis Bighorn Sand tires, which are often used in cross-country competition and rally raids. As the size of the wheels grew so much, this required significant design changes.

The fully-independent suspension is equipped with new modified struts with the possibility of installing new wheels. The suspension geometry has been heavily redesigned. Thanks to the increased ground clearance (from 153 mm to 310 mm at the front and 320 mm at the rear), massive tires, and high torque of 395 Nm, the car is able to overcome very difficult routes.

One of the most striking features is a custom steel roof rack that can accommodate a pair of surfboards. The total vehicle height with the planks fitted is 1,950 mm - 255 mm higher than the Kia Sorento, the largest vehicle Kia sells in the UK.

The car retains the Neptune Blue nautical paint and black roof but also features a number of bright white accents throughout the body. The trunk has been completely redesigned with a solar panel and a pair of Lazer ST4 Evolution LED spotlights.

The vehicle is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and a 10-speaker Harman / Kardon Premium audio system.

This is a show car, so far Kia has no plans to put it on the assembly line.
