Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition: Electric with a surfer air

With the arrival of August, it is time for the beach, festivals and in some cases surfing, and in Kia they know this well because they have just surprised us with a curious concept with the name of Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition that stands out for its stance. off-road and surfing airs. And it is no coincidence since as its own name already indicates it has been created to appear at the Boardmasters music and surf festival that is going to be held between August 11 and 15 on the coast of Cornwall, in the United Kingdom.

Off-road nature for the urban electric

And it is that this Kia e-Soul is presented with new footwear much more capable, with 16-inch steel wheels with gigantic 265/75 R16 Maxxis Bighorn tires with 30 inches in diameter. These new wheels are accompanied by a suspension with a new geometry that allows increasing the ground clearance to about 310 mm at the front and 320 mm, thus gaining an extra 153 mm compared to the series model. All this means that the Soul has become a vehicle with a very urban approach to move like a fish in water through sandy terrain such as the coast, and all this without resorting to all-wheel drive.

In fact, mechanically it still has the 204 hp and 395 Nm that act as the top of the range of the e-Soul range. Unfortunately the larger wheels and off-road compromise somewhat the autonomy announced by Kia, so it will be necessary to take into account that its range will be less.

Attractive and equipped

However, the highlight of this model is the new equipment that it has, and that makes it the ideal vehicle to enjoy a day of surfing. In fact, it has a luggage rack capable of transporting two Tahe Bic Malibu boards in addition to much other equipment, there are even solar panels to power the mini-fridge and other appliances that it keeps inside.

In addition to this, and to accompany its new off-road stance, it also features plastic fenders, roof-mounted Lazer ST4 Evolution LED spotlights, and white graphics on Neptune Blue paint covering the body.

As a concept that it is, this Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition is not scheduled to go into production, but it will be seen these next few days at the Boardmasters 2021 festival that will feature a good number of activities.
