Kia anticipates the first images and definitive features of its new midsize SUV, a Sportage that shares many details with the Tucson and, like it, makes an impact.
The new generation Kia Sportage has just seen the light officially thanks to a series of images that the brand itself has been commissioned to publish on the network. After the arrival of models like the Xceedor the new Sorento, Kia completes a truly broad SUV family.
In the case of this new Sportage, we know that its official debut is scheduled for next July but the Korean firm did not want to wait any longer to show us with a series of teasers the great transformation suffered by this model in every way, especially in terms of aesthetics, thanks to the influence of the recent Kia EV6 in its design.
Bigger and wider
As we had already seen in the previous appearances of this new Sportage hunted by our spies on a circuit near Frankfurt in Germany, still with some camouflage, we now find an almost exposed body with a more dynamic design even than that of the new Sorento with sharper fins and sharper flanks, in fact, this Sportage will come with a completely new design language called Opposites United.
This style is characterized by a muscular appearance, with sharp character lines that undulate across the surfaces, and that undoubtedly stand out from the rest of Kia models seen so far, especially when you look at its new front with a few LED daytime running lights in the shape of a boomerang that runs from the end of the hood to the bottom of a grille that seems to extend even to the corners of the front.
The Sportage is longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. In fact, its base will be none other than that of the new Hyundai Tucson, a model with a length of 4,630 mm, 1,865 mm wide and 1,665 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,755 mm that will not be far from the measurements of this Kia and that they will follow the trend of other SUVs in its category. With these measurements, this Sportage will be even longer than a RAV4 and just as wide.
In fact, its interior will not only be more spacious but also much more attractive and technological as revealed by the official images offered by the brand. A large panoramic and curved screen stands out that serves to show both the digital instrumentation and the infotainment system.
A very varied mechanical offer
Of course, the Hyundai Tucson will also inherit not only its chassis but even a rich mechanical offering made up of gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid engines such as that of the Hyundai model. There is even talk of a 100% electric variant that would receive the name of Kia e-Sportage. For the rest, its range will continue to have different traction options (front and total) and manual and automatic transmissions.
Finally, this Kia Sportage will debut next July 2021, although its arrival on the market, as in other models of the house, will begin in South Korea to later reach other markets such as Europe, where we will surely not see it until the end of 2021.
