Microsoft-owned Bethesda recently released a re-release of Quake for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The legendary shooter has received many improvements, such as new lighting and higher resolutions, without initially taking advantage of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
Now Bethesda has announced that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, or Xbox Series X users can download a free update that raises the resolution to 4K and 120fps on all three consoles.
We're thrilled to be running Quake on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5. Anyone who purchased Quake on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is eligible for a free upgrade on the same family of consoles. Additionally, free upgrades are available to Xbox Game Pass members who own an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S. - Bethesda
Xbox owners will be automatically updated to the new version if Quake is installed on the current generation console. However, PlayStation 5 owners will have to go to the store and manually download the new version or file called “PS5 | Full | Quake PS5 Upgrade ".
