Microsoft's $68.7 billion Activision-Blizzard deal gets unconditional approval in Serbia

Microsoft's $68.7 billion deal to acquire Activision Blizzard has been unconditionally approved in Serbia after the deal had been approved in Saudi Arabia and Brazil. Serbia has joined Saudi Arabia and Brazil in approving the $68.7 billion deal, which is now under scrutiny by global antitrust regulators, Reuters reported. Reuters also claims that Microsoft may soon make concessions to EU regulators to help push through the deal.

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard’s resistance is currently mainly due to the competition of the Call of Duty series of games, and Sony has expressed its opposition to the transaction. If approved, the all-cash acquisition would be the largest and most expensive deal in the history of the technology industry.

The European Commission has previously stated,

It is critical to ensure that the gaming ecosystem remains viable and benefits users of this rapidly developing industry. We must ensure that future and existing PC, console video game distributors and PC operating system competitors There is still a chance." The agency has until March 23, 2023, to decide whether to approve the deal.
