Microsoft Windows 11's new photo app is available for Dev preview

Microsoft today began to roll out a new photo application to Windows 11 Dev preview users. Compared with the previous version, the new version of the photo application has undergone a major interface change. Microsoft says the update brings an easier-to-use gallery that simplifies browsing, finding, managing, and more of your favorite photos. The new Photos app also allows users to easily back up photos using OneDrive.

The version number of the new photo app is 2022.31090.16004.0 and above and has ushered in a number of improvements, including:

  • Organize your photos with an efficient and beautifully redesigned experience

  • Easily back up photos to OneDrive and stay safe

  • Celebrate the good life with an improved "Memories" experience

  • Increase productivity with multiple windows and multiple screens

  • Easily view OneDrive storage quota usage and add more storage

  • Import and manage photos from external sources like phones and cameras

In addition, the new version of the Photos app removes the video editor, which Microsoft had previously introduced in Windows 11.
