His name is Battista in reference to the founder of Pininfarina, he has more than 1,900 horses and was officially presented at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. However, after more than two years since that debut and a long program of development and testing finally, arguably the most powerful Italian sports car in history is a reality that is now ready for production. And its official debut in motion has arrived just now, during Monterey Car Week 2021 which regularly brings together some of the most desired and exclusive cars in the world.
This debut is no coincidence since the USA is presented as one of the main markets for the Battista where it received significant demand from the beginning. Now, precisely where he has delighted us with his first video in action, strolling through the famous mountain roads of California.
A 100% Pininfarina design
As we already knew for two years, the "production" Pininfarina Battista that has reached today has received a kind of facelift with respect to the model shown in 2019, with a redesign especially of its front that responds to the latest aerodynamic tests with the model. .
The changes are subtle but more numerous than it seems, the most evident without a doubt is that that strange and fine air intake that joined the two headlights as a fine line just below the badge has been eliminated. The lower grille has grown slightly in size and the upper area of the bonnet has also received some changes, the striking rear-view mirrors now have a much more extreme design. The result is a car with a cleaner and more Pininfarina design.
The best ingredients
The Battista, thanks to its carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and 4 electric motors - one on each wheel is extremely light with a power of 1,926 horsepower and a torque of 2,300 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers/hour in less than 2 seconds, achieving 300 in 12, all with a range of about 450 kilometers thanks to a 120 kWh battery manufactured by Rimac. It is made of manganese, nickel, and lithium and its T-shape allows the center of gravity to be lowered as it is located on the chassis of the vehicle. It also has carbonaceous brakes with 390mm discs and 6-piston monobloc calipers.
At Monterey Car Week this Battista will also discover for the first time his unique new sound which is said to be mathematically consistent with the universe and a pure sound. However, he will not be alone, because next to him there will also be the Battista Anniversary version, of which only 5 units will be made.
Only 150 units
Pininfarina plans to manufacture 150 units of its hypercar at a price of 2 million euros each, to maintain exclusivity, something that has already been sought from the beginning. An objective achieved after an intense testing phase, both with simulations in a wind tunnel and with circuit tests with the advice of former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld, with whom Pininfarina has been working since the beginning of this project.
