Porsche 911 GTS 2021: Extra power and dynamism

The new generation GTS versions are already here and with them the 'nine-eleven gains in attractiveness, performance, and dynamic behavior. Twelve years ago came the arrival of the first generation of the Porsche 911 GTS, a version that has always provided a plus of dynamism compared to the standard Carrera S, but without reaching the levels of the Turbo. Once again, the acronym GTS is once again present on the iconic German sports car, this time to become the most powerful and dynamic delivery ever made, complementing the 992 generation family.

A more attractive point

The new 2021 Porsche 911 GTS differs from the rest of the range by sporting a large number of black exterior details, such as the spoiler lip, the engine cover grille, the center nut alloy wheels, the GTS lettering on doors and rear of the vehicle, as well as darkened headlamps. In the Targa, the black color is also present in the typical bow of this model and in the version lettering. Taillights are specific and LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus are standard, as is the Sport Design package, which includes distinctive moldings on the front, sides, and rear.

Regarding the interior, the engineers have reduced the insulation to create an even sportier environment that allows the sound of the engine to be heard more clearly, to which is added a GT Sport steering wheel, the Sport Chrono package, the Porsche Track Precision application, and the tire temperature indication. All this without forgetting a manual transmission shift lever that has been shortened 10 millimeters, as well as Sport Seats Plus seats with four-way power adjustment and exclusive Race-Tex microfiber upholstery.. The decorative stitching, seat belts, embroidered GTS lettering on the headrests, the lap counter, and the Sport Chrono watch can be displayed in Carmine Red or Crayon with the GTS Interior Package.

The infotainment system, the so-called Porsche Communication Management (PCM) has been improved, so it now has simplified operation and new functions, while the touch areas of the multimedia menu have been expanded and there is a new option to organize the icons. on the home screen. The voice assistant can be activated by saying “Hey Porsche” and connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also guaranteed.

Improved performance

Under the hood beats a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which is capable of developing 480 horsepower and a maximum torque of 570 Nm, that is, it gains 30 hp and 20 Nm compared to the previous generation. All that energy can be directed to a seven-speed manual gearbox - with "especially short" travels - or another PDK dual-clutch eight-speed automatic. With this last option, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé version is capable of reaching 100 km / h in 3.3 seconds.

At the chassis level, the GTS stands out for showing off a series of components inherited from the 911 Turbo, such as the suspension –with a specific set-up–, the braking system and the alloy wheels with a central nut in measures of 20 (front ) and 21 inches (rear). The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is standard and the same goes for the sports chassis, which lowers the body height by 10 millimeters. The final touch comes with a specific sports exhaust system, responsible for providing a very special soundtrack.

Improved Dyanism

Those who want to further improve the car's dynamic behavior can opt for the Lightweight Design package, offered for the first time on the GTS trims. Thanks to its presence, the 911 loses up to 25 kilos and this is due to the lightweight integral polymer seats reinforced with carbon fiber, the lightened glass of the side windows and the rear window, as well as a lighter battery and the elimination of the rear seats. In addition, a steered rear axle and additional aerodynamic details are included.

The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS is now available in its five versions:

  • 911 Carrera GTS Coupé - 162,595 euros

  • 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet - 178,885 euros

  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé - 171.55 euros
