Russian cosmonauts took a tour of the Science module on the ISS

Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Petr Dubrov conducted a video tour of the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module onboard the International Space Station.


As a reminder, the Nauka module docked to the Russian segment of the ISS on July 29, 2021. The astronauts showed in detail the inner world of the new module, including scientific and control equipment, an onboard workshop, a weather vane for stabilization and vibration protection, as well as a space toilet a sanitation and sanitation device, and a cabin for the crew.


The Science module expands the volumes for the arrangement of workplaces and storage of goods, the placement of equipment for the regeneration of water and oxygen. In the new Russian module, it is planned to conduct 13 experiments in various directions, including Kaplya-2 (space technologies), Aseptic (space biology and physiology), Mirage, Vampire, Fullerene (space materials science), Vitacyc-T (space biology and physiology), Rakurs (exploration of the Earth from space) and others. Flight tests of the Science module will be completed in about a year.


Currently, the crew of the International Space Station consists of Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky, Pyotr Dubrov, and NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hai, who arrived on the ISS on April 9 on the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft, as well as NASA astronauts who arrived on the ISS on April 24 Megan MacArthur and Shane Kimbrough, ESA astronaut Thomas Peske and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Akihiko Hoshide.
