The downloads of global travel applications from Jan to Oct 2022 will approach 2 billion times

The latest report from Sensor Tower shows that as the impact of the epidemic recedes, the downloads of global travel applications from January to October 2022 will approach 2 billion times, surpassing the downloads in the same period in 2019. Downloads in major markets such as Latin America have surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Previously, global travel app downloads in 2020 fell by 20.6% due to the impact of the epidemic.


Downloads: In the second quarter of 2020, global travel app downloads fell 34.4% year-on-year to 390 million due to the impact of the epidemic. With the gradual recovery of the global travel market, the number of downloads of travel apps in the second quarter of 2022 will increase by 29.5% year-on-year to 610 million times. Travel app downloads continue to grow to a record high of 650 million in Q3 2022.


In the Asian market, local travel apps dominate the market. Among them, AutoNavi Maps, Kakao T, and Grab SuperApp from local publishers will top the list of travel app downloads in China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia in 2022, respectively.


The top ten applications in China's travel application market from January to October 2022 are AutoNavi Maps, Baidu Maps, Railway 12306, Hello, Ctrip Travel, Dida Travel, Tencent Maps, Qunar Travel, Same trip, Zhixing train tickets.


In addition, Sensor Tower said that Uber is the world's most downloaded shared travel application, and it will be the world's largest shared travel application download from 2019 to 2022. Affected by the epidemic, Uber's downloads have declined, but it still far exceeds similar competitors.
