The first half of 2022: The global mobile game revenue was US$41.2 billion

Sensor Tower released the latest report, the report shows that the global mobile game revenue in the first half of 2022 is 41.2 billion US dollars (about 278.7 billion yuan), a year-on-year decrease of 6.6%. Among them, Google Play's revenue was US$15.6 billion (approximately RMB 105.4 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 14.8%.

Sensor Tower analyst Craig Chapple called the downturn extraordinary, indicating a major challenge to the mobile game market. For specific reasons, Chappell believes that there are many factors, such as the devaluation of IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) on the App Store and inflation. In addition, similar to the console and PC game markets, the mobile game market has grown significantly during the new crown epidemic, and now the market is gradually returning to normal. In terms of data, although the global mobile game revenue in the first half of 2022 fell by 6.6% year-on-year, compared with the first half of 2019, the mobile game revenue increased by 36.7%.

In terms of revenue, the first is Tencent's "Honor of Kings", which earned 1.4 billion US dollars (about 9.4 billion yuan) in the first half of the year. The second is Tencent's "PUBG Mobile Game", the game revenue in the first half of the year was 1.1 billion US dollars (about 7.4 billion yuan). The third place is "Yuan Shen", with revenue of 986.2 million US dollars (about 6.6 billion yuan) in the first half of the year

At the same time, the report pointed out that although mobile game revenue declined in the first half of the year, global mobile game downloads increased slightly. The number of downloads in the first half of this year was 28.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. This growth was mainly from the Google Play Store, which recorded 23.9 billion downloads in the first half of the year, up 1.3% year-on-year. The Apple App Store downloads were 4.2 billion times, down 4.5% year on year.

A report released by Sensor Tower on July 11 shows that in June 2022, a total of 38 Chinese manufacturers were shortlisted for the TOP100 global mobile game publisher revenue list, with a total of more than 2 billion US dollars (about 13.4 billion yuan), accounting for nearly 40% of the revenue of the global TOP100 mobile game publishers.
