Photographer Man Ray's famous photo "Le Violon d'Ingres" sold for $12.4 million (about 84.196 million yuan) last Saturday. The price set a record for the most expensive photograph in auction history.

The work was auctioned for nearly 10 minutes at Christie's New York Surreal Art Auction and was finally sold.

In this photo, taken in 1924, of Kiki de Montparnasse, the author depicts the f-symbol on the female's back through double exposure, giving the female body the feel of a violin. The picture has become one of the most recognizable works of Surrealist art.

According to reports, the auction price surpassed Andreas Gursky's "landscape Rhein II" in 2011, which was sold at Christie's for $4.3 million (about 29.197 million yuan), setting a photo auction record at the time.
