Toyota Announces Sales, Production, and Export Results for December 2022

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) released its sales, production, and export results for December 2022, as well as the cumulative total from January to December 2022, including those for subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., and Hino Motors, Ltd.

Sales Results

• Total worldwide sales of vehicles showed a decrease of 1.7% YoY, marking the first YoY decrease in 5 months.

• The sales inside of Japan, including mini vehicles, showed a decrease of 9.4% YoY, marking the first YoY decrease in 4 months.

• The sales outside of Japan showed a stable YoY increase of 0.0%.

• Toyota's worldwide sales showed a YoY decrease of 1.4%, marking the first YoY decrease in 5 months. The sales inside of Japan showed a YoY decrease of 12.2%, marking the second consecutive YoY decrease, while the sales outside of Japan showed a YoY increase of 0.2%.

Production Results

The worldwide sales of Toyota and its subsidiaries, Daihatsu and Hino, saw a 0.1% decrease year-on-year in 2022. In 2022, worldwide production for Toyota, Daihatsu, and Hino increased YoY for the second consecutive year, totaling 10,610,604 units. Production inside of Japan decreased YoY for the third consecutive year, totaling 3,653,012 units. Production outside of Japan increased YoY for the second consecutive year, totaling 6,957,592 units. This was a record high.
