Volvo wins largest electric truck order in North America

Maersk has placed an order for 16 Volvo VNR Electric Class 8 trucks. This is the largest commercial electric truck order in North America.

The Volvo VNR Electric Class 8 is the first zero-emission Class 8 battery-electric truck in the Volvo Performance Team fleet to hit the road by the end of the year. Once commissioned, these 16 vehicles will deliver daily cargo to customers throughout Southern California. In addition to zero emissions, the new truck is quieter and less vibration-free, offering greater comfort for both drivers and those around them.

The move to electric vehicles is an exciting time in the commercial truck industry, and the Performance Team is leading the way with the largest scale-up production order to date for a single Class 8 battery-electric model. Through its commitment to ship 16 Volvo VNR Electric trucks by the end of 2021. The Performance Team has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. This is another big step forward in reducing the overall carbon footprint of the freight industry. - Peter Voorchow, President, Volvo Trucks North America

VNR Electric models are purchased through Volvo Trucks' TEC Equipment dealership, which is the company's largest dealership on the West Coast and was recently named the first certified Volvo EV dealer in North America.
