What does the security check feature mean to protect Instagram accounts?

Instagram has launched a security check, a new feature to help people maintain the security of their accounts across the platform, where the security check guides people, whose accounts may have been hacked, through the necessary steps to secure them.

This includes checking login activity, reviewing account information, confirming which accounts are sharing login information, and updating contact information for account recoveries such as a phone number or email. People with previously hacked accounts see a prompt at login asking if they want to start a security check.

Instagram is also planning to add support for two-factor authentication through WhatsApp so that if you use WhatsApp, in the coming weeks you can protect your account with a WhatsApp number in certain countries. Authentication.

The platform says that there is a slight increase in accounts claiming to be Instagram in direct messages to make people share their passwords, and the platform only sends emails, and you can check to see if the email is authentic by looking at the Emails tab from Instagram in settings.
