Fortnite embodies the demolition of the Holy Kaaba and Al-Azhar calls for its boycott

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Al-Azhar Center for Fatwas in Egypt issued a statement warning against some electronic games, which is described as kidnapping the minds of young people, especially the Fortnite game.

The center attributed its warning to what Fortnite contains, embodying the demolition of the honorable Kaaba or tampering with it, which directly affects our children's faith negatively, confuses their concepts and identity, and underestimates their sanctities.

According to press reports, and tweets from social media pioneers, the company “Epic Games, the developer of the game, has included an update that forces players to enter the Great Mosque of Mecca and kill worshipers and then demolish the Kaaba to supply weapons from inside, after hitting its walls with an ax or iron hammer to complete the game and enter into advanced stages After performing the required.

On the other hand, the team responsible for managing the famous “Fortnite” game issued a clarification regarding reports that it included an update forcing players to enter the Great Mosque of Mecca, killing worshipers, and then demolishing the Kaaba.

The team said in a post on its Facebook page for the Middle East, that the content referred to was an island made by a player in the Creative mode, where on the island you cannot destroy the Kaaba. We would like to emphasize that our team respects all religions and we work closely with the content creators of the game from our players in order to provide a safe gaming experience for all our players.

This warning about the controversial game is not the first of its kind. In April 2019, the Iraqi parliament decided to ban electronic games that “incite violence,” including PUBG, Fortnite, and Blue Whale games, because of the negative effects that some electronic games pose on the health and culture of the security of Iraqi society.

The game is based on being on an island with other players, and the one who survives to the end wins. And the electronic game Fortnite managed to achieve sales of more than 1.8 billion dollars during 2019, which is 25% less than it was in 2018.
