Google Maps for iPhone finally has a dark theme

Google officially launched the dark theme for the Google Maps (Google Maps) mobile app for Android in February 2021, and its widespread adoption began in March. And now, six months later, the dark mode becomes available for iPhone users.

According to Google, dark mode will be launched in the coming weeks and can be turned on in the Settings section of Google Maps. The developers promise that the dark mode in Google Maps will save battery power and give your eyes a rest.

Along with dark mode, Google announced the launch of maps integration with iMessage. Users can share their real-time location with friends in iMessage using the Google Maps button in the Messages app. By default, access to a real-time location is granted to the recipient for one hour, but it is possible to extend access to three days or terminate access at any time.

Google also officially announced Google Maps widgets for the iPhone home screen to quickly plan trips and launch navigation. This feature started rolling out to users last week.
