How to transfer your Facebook data to other services?

Facebook has rebuilt a tool that facilitates the transfer of data from the company to other services, as the Transfer, Your Information tool was launched in April to give users more control over their data.

Previously, it allowed transferring notes and posts to Google Docs, Blogger, and WordPress, as well as transferring photos and videos to Backblaze, Dropbox, Google Photos, and Koofr.

The updates also allow users to export data to Photobucket and Google Calendar, in addition to the tool's support for a new data type: Facebook events. Facebook said it has also made several improvements to the tool's user experience:

A completely redesigned experience that's simpler and more intuitive people can now easily see supported destinations and data types. Greater transparency about the status of each transfer, including making it easier to retry some transfers. The ability to initiate multiple data transfers simultaneously to a single destination.

Filters allow people to more accurately select the data they want to transfer.

How to use the updated Facebook tool?

  • The data transfer tool is fairly easy to use.

  • Open Facebook and go to your settings.

  • Click "Your Facebook Information" followed by "Transfer Your Information".

  • You will then be asked to re-enter your password and choose the destination and data you want to transfer.

Alexandru Voica of Facebook said the improvements will be particularly useful for users on mobile devices. We know that 98.3% of Facebook users use mobile devices when accessing the platform, so we're making it easy for people who use mobile-first (or mobile-only) to transfer a copy of their information directly from Facebook to other services.

The update also makes the platform exit experience a little easier.
