Instagram launches new monetization options for its creators

The internet has democratized commerce in many ways. Now people are talented or can simply open their website or social media profile to sell. But even with that, the task is not easy. There is a lot of competition and it pays to have the right tools to get the exposure you need. In that sense, Instagram has just announced new monetization options for its creators.

Within the framework of Creators Week, a week dedicated to the professional development of aspiring and emerging creators on Instagram and Facebook, held in the United States, the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, was in charge of publicizing the new tools available to do business on social media.

Zuckerberg, I think that a good vision of the future has to involve many more people who can earn a living expressing their creativity and doing the things they want to do, rather than the things they have to do; And having the support of tools and the economy around them to support their work is critical.

Among the novelties is that, from today, creators who want to sell their own products or build their brand on Instagram will be able to link their personal profile with their store. It must be remembered that until now, only a commercial profile could open a store on Instagram. But now the creator can choose to link their existing store or create a new store from their personal profile, allowing them to sell their products directly to their followers.

Another new feature is an option to monetize through the Live Badges feature. The creators of the platform will be eligible to receive additional payment when completing some missions when using the Badges in Live feature on Instagram, for example, when going live with another account.

The company announced that on Facebook they are also implementing additional payment for creators who use the stars function, with missions such as broadcasting live for a certain number of hours or earning a number of stars from fans in a period of time.

Zuckerberg said, our goal is to be the best platform for creators like you to earn a living. If you have an idea that you want to share with the world, it deserves to be able to develop and spread it easily and simply, on Facebook and Instagram, and earn money for that work.

According to Facebook, the new tools are designed both for those who are taking their first steps and for those more advanced in the development of their business.

They also recalled that creators can use the platforms to partner with brands, sell their own articles, earn money from their collaborators and receive a portion of the income from the ads that are published in the content of their videos.

Another option now available to creators is the opportunity to label products from the brands they work with. In addition, in the coming months, they will begin to test a native affiliate tool that will allow them to discover new products available with the checkout option, share them with their followers and obtain commissions for the purchases they drive within the Instagram app.

When people come across an affiliate post from a creator featuring a tagged product, they'll see it say Commission Eligible at the top of the post, so it's clear to them that their purchases help that creator.

However, it must be clarified that the first steps of this function will only be taken in the United States with some selected creators.

Today's news is part of a larger effort to help creators as they develop their careers. Whether creators want to connect with brands, get paid for their content, or earn money directly from their fans, it's our commitment to creating the right mix of tools to help them achieve their goals. We are making interesting progress and will have more news to share in the coming months, reads the Instagram blog.
