New features of the Messenger app

Facebook is making it easier to send money in the app by supporting QR codes and links for in-person payments through Facebook Pay. Through the update, users can access their QR code and link it to their Messenger settings to request payment. The feature is set to work even if users aren't already friends on Facebook, making it easier to send or request payments to strangers.

This feature is useful for those who exchange buying and selling through the Marketplace feature, as transactions often start on Messenger. Rather than turning to Venmo, a PayPal-owned mobile payment service, or any other third-party app, buyers and sellers may have a greater incentive to use Facebook Pay instead. This feature is only available in the US at the moment, and it will be added in other places soon.

Two new features have also been added to Messenger, including a new Quick Reply button to reply to photos and videos, and new chat features in the inbox.
