Why did YouTube delete videos from the Brazilian President's channel?

YouTube has removed videos from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's channel for spreading false information about the outbreak of the Coronavirus, becoming the latest technology giant to withdraw its statements about the epidemic.

YouTube said in a press release that the decision was made after careful review and without regard to Bolsonaro's job or political ideology.

The far-right and army captain, who oversaw the world's second-largest outbreak of coronavirus deaths, has been widely criticized for denouncing closures, promoting unproven miracle cures, sowing doubts about vaccines, and advising to stay away from masks.

And YouTube said in the statement: “Our rules do not allow content that states that hydroxychloroquine and/or ivermectin are effective in treating or preventing Covid-19, and that content that states that there is a cure for the disease, or that says that masks do not work to prevent the spread of the virus.”
