The new option was announced by a user of the ResetEra forum who shared that when he wanted to cancel his YouTube Premium subscription, the company offered him to join a lite plan.

It was later confirmed that YouTube Premium Lite subscriptions allow access to ad-free content on both regular YouTube and the YouTube Kids version for kids. And it can be used on multiple devices, including iOS and Android mobile devices, computer desktops, TVs, and game consoles.

It is worth noting that the paid Lite option only allows viewing without ads, that is, no more benefits are offered to users. In other words, there is no access to downloads for offline playback or background playback.

The bad news is that for now, the company has announced to The Verge that YouTube Premium Lite is currently only available in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

Even so, it can be said that YouTube has announced that the new subscription is in an experimental phase and that it is considering implementing more plans based on audience feedback.

And, as an example, in Europe the YouTube Premium subscription has an approximate cost of 11.99 euros per month, while the new subscription plan is being offered for 6.99 euros per month, that is, about 40% less.
