Amazon Clinic virtual medical platform released

In order to provide convenient and affordable medical services and expand its influence in the field of healthcare, Amazon established Amazon Clinic in the United States, which is a virtual health service. Amazon already operates Amazon Pharmacy, where people can buy prescription drugs through Amazon's online store without leaving their homes.

The new platform, Amazon Clinic, aims to provide people with virtual care and affordable care for more than 20 common health conditions, such as allergies, acne, and hair loss, by partnering with trusted providers. It will operate in 32 US states.

Based on their personal preferences, interested customers can pick and choose telehealth providers from the new Healthcare Store. Simply mention the condition, complete a short admission questionnaire and connect directly with a clinician through a secure message-based portal. Following an information-based consultation, clinicians can send a personalized treatment plan, including any necessary prescriptions, to the customer's preferred pharmacy.

The consultation included follow-up information with the clinician within two weeks of the initial consultation.

Amazon also said that any telehealth provider in Amazon Clinic goes through rigorous clinical quality and customer experience evaluations by its clinical leadership team.

Finally, Amazon notes that if the clinical team in the back office feels that virtual care is not the right solution for the user, they will let the user know in advance before contacting the medical service provider.
