Google's Nearby Share Feature Now Lets You Share Apps Directly from the Play Store

Google has started rolling out a new feature for its Nearby Share functionality. This update allows users to share entire apps directly from the Play Store, making it easier to discover and download new apps with friends and family.

Until now, sharing apps on Android devices involved using workarounds like Google's Files Go or sharing APKs and sideloading them. However, this new feature promises to be more direct and user-friendly, eliminating the need for complicated procedures. With the updated Nearby Share, users can share apps by simply selecting them from the My Apps & Games section in the Play Store and sending them to nearby devices.

The new app-sharing feature offers several advantages, including:

  • Convenience: Users can share apps directly from the Play Store, eliminating the need for third-party apps or workarounds.

  • Simplified process: The feature handles differences in architecture, such as App Bundles, making it easier to share apps without technical issues.

  • Easy installation: Once the transfer is initiated, the app will install in the background without requiring further user interaction.

The new feature is currently rolling out to users, with initial availability limited. To use the feature, both the sender and receiver must have the updated Play Store app and have Nearby Share enabled. Transfers are manual on both sides, requiring user interaction to initiate and accept the transfer.

Google's Nearby Share feature has been a game-changer for Android users, allowing for easy sharing of content like photos, videos, and links. With the addition of app sharing, the feature becomes even more powerful, enabling users to discover and download new apps with ease.

As the feature continues to roll out, we can expect to see more users taking advantage of the simplified app-sharing process. With Google's commitment to improving user experience, we may see further updates and enhancements to Nearby Share in the future.
