Apple's Classical Music App Delayed: Will it Ever be Released?

Apple's highly anticipated classical music app has unfortunately been delayed and may not be released in 2022 as previously announced. In August 2021, Apple announced that it would be acquiring classical music service Primephonic and launching a dedicated classical music app in the following year. However, as 2022 has come and gone, the app has yet to launch and there has been no official word from Apple about its plans for the app.

The Primephonic classical music service shut down in September 2021, and users at that time were offered six months of Apple Music for free as a transition. It is unclear if the Apple Classical Music app will be released in 2023 and serve as a replacement for Primephonic, providing users with classical music experiences featuring composers like Beethoven and Mozart.

Fans of classical music have been eagerly waiting for the app's release, and it is disappointing that it has been delayed. It is important for Apple to keep its users informed about the status of the app and any updates on its release.

Speculation about the status of Apple's Classical Music app has been swirling for months now, as the app has yet to be released despite initial plans for a 2022 launch. However, recent discoveries have added fuel to the fire, as hidden references to the app were found in beta versions of the Apple Music app for Android and iOS 15.5 beta. Even more references were discovered in XML files on Apple's servers, leading many to believe that the app is still in development.

Apple has stated that it will incorporate Primephonic's best features into the Classical Music app, including improved browsing and searching capabilities and a detailed display of classical music metadata. It's possible that these features may be taking longer to implement than originally thought. Additionally, Primephonic uses a unique pay-per-second-listened model to compensate artists and rights holders, rather than a pay-per-play model like Apple Music. It's possible that Apple is still trying to find the right payment model for the Classical Music app.

As of now, it's unclear if the app will be released in 2023 or if the plans have been abandoned. Apple has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. Classical music fans will have to wait and see if the much-anticipated app will eventually see the light of day.
