Boeing doesn't expect to complete 737 MAX 10 certification by next summer

Boeing does not expect to complete the certification of the 737 MAX 10 before next summer, according to a letter issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Monday. Boeing needs regulatory approval for the MAX 10 and the smaller MAX 7 by December, the report said. The MAX 10 is slightly larger than the current 737 MAX. Unless it gets an extension from Congress, Boeing must meet new modern cockpit alert requirements that could significantly delay the plane's entry into service.

Two sources quoted Acting Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Billy Nolen as saying, "Regarding the 737-10, according to Boeing's current program schedule, the 737-10 will receive revisions by the summer of 2023. Type certificate ."

The FAA and Boeing declined to comment.
