China Remote Sensing Satellite Applications was inaugurated in Beijing

The National Engineering Research Center for Remote Sensing Satellite Applications built by the Institute of Aerospace Information Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially unveiled at the Beijing New Technology Base of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The center aims to serve the country's major strategic tasks and the implementation of key projects, and organizes units with strong scientific research strength, institutions of higher learning, etc. to carry out scientific research and engineering work, and is an important part of the national innovation system.

The engineering center, formerly known as the National Engineering Laboratory for Remote Sensing Satellite Applications established by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2008, is the only national engineering laboratory in the field of remote sensing in China. The remote sensing satellite application technology chain and verification platform , the laboratory passed the evaluation work organized by the National Development and Reform Commission in December 2021, and was officially included in the new sequence management of the National Engineering Research Center.

According to the official website of the National Engineering Laboratory for Remote Sensing Satellite Applications, the laboratory shoulders the important mission of implementing major national projects and developing industries. It is strategically positioned to serve the country's major needs for earth observation, and develops atmospheric, land and oceanic Research on remote sensing satellite application engineering technology, develop optical, microwave, infrared, hyperspectral, polarization, electromagnetic, gravity and other remote sensing satellite scientific research and key technologies, and form remote sensing satellite application core engineering capabilities such as calibration, inspection, and image processing.
