Chinese first Mars exploration Tianwen-1 mission team won the highest annual award

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation stated that recently, at the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Paris, France, China's first Mars exploration Tianwen-1 team won the 2022 World Aerospace Award. The award is the highest annual award of the International Astronautical Federation. Previously, representatives of the Chang'e-4 mission team won this award. The Tianwen-1 mission has achieved China's first Mars orbit, landing, and patrol exploration, and it is the first time in human history that these three goals have been achieved in just one mission.

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation stated that the Tianwen-1 probe (including the "Zhurong" rover, entry module, orbiter, etc.) and the Long March 5 carrier rocket used for its launch were developed by China Airlines, and other sub-systems of the project also have aerospace technology Relevant units affiliated to the group participated.

On July 23 this year, the second anniversary of the launch of the Tianwen-1 mission, the orbiter returned Phobos images. The Tianwen-1 operation team recently seized the opportunity when the orbiter was close to Phobos, used a high-resolution camera to image Phobos, and obtained a clear image of the "full moon" state.

In June 2020, the Chang'e-4 mission team is an excellent representative of the chief designer of China's lunar exploration project and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Wu Weiren, deputy chief designer of China's lunar exploration project and deputy director of the Science and Technology Committee of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Yu Dengyun, Chang'e Sun Zezhou, the chief designer of the No. 4 mission probe system and a researcher at the China Academy of Space Technology, won the highest award of the International Astronautical Federation in 2020 - the "World Aerospace Award". This is also the first time in the 70 years since the international organization was established that this award has been awarded to Chinese aerospace scientists.
