Dolphin and Seal made their debut at the Costa Rica Auto Show

The Costa Rican Auto Show welcomed the debut of BYD's ocean series models, Dolphin and Seal, which were presented by the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer and its Costa Rican dealer, Cori Motors. The new energy vehicles attracted attention at the show, which was held from February 23 to 27 at the Pedregal Events Center.

Design Concept of Ocean Aesthetics

The Dolphin and Seal models are part of BYD's ocean series and feature ocean-inspired designs. The Dolphin is a pure electric car with a simple and futuristic appearance, while the Seal is a five-seat luxury coupe that is the first model equipped with CTB battery-body integration technology. The Seal features shorter front and rear overhangs, a larger wheelbase, and a low drag coefficient of 0.219Cd, which improves its aerodynamic performance.

BYD Seal's Innovative Technology

The BYD Seal is an integrator of e-platform 3.0 technology, which includes CTB battery-body integration technology, iTAC technology, rear-wheel drive/four-wheel-drive power architecture, and an efficient eight-in-one electric powertrain. The Seal's acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is an impressive 3.8 seconds, and the vehicle offers three endurance versions, each with different cruising ranges. The standard endurance model is equipped with a 150 kW rear motor and has a cruising range of 550 km. The long-endurance version is equipped with a 230 kW rear motor and has a cruising range of 700 km. The four-wheel drive performance version has a total power of 390 kW from front and rear motors and has a cruising range of 650 km.

BYD's Other Models Displayed at the Auto Show

In addition to the Dolphin and Seal models, BYD displayed its other new energy vehicles, including Han EV, Tang EV, Yuan PRO, and Yuan PLUS at the EXPOMOVIL auto show. BYD Yuan PRO, which is known locally as S1 PRO, has become the best-selling electric vehicle in Costa Rica's history and ranks sixth in the overall Costa Rican auto market (including fuel vehicles).

BYD's Success in Costa Rica

Since entering the Costa Rican market, BYD has sold over 2,000 new energy electric vehicles, making it the top-selling new energy electric vehicle brand for three consecutive years. The brand's success in the country can be attributed to its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
