Dongfeng Honda Announces Launch of New Self-Owned Electrified Brand in 2023

Dongfeng Honda has announced plans to launch a new self-owned brand in 2023. The brand, which has yet to be named, will focus on producing electrified vehicles.

In 2025, the proportion of electrified products within Dongfeng Honda's lineup is expected to reach 50%. This shift towards electrification aligns with the company's efforts to reduce its environmental impact and meet increasingly stringent emissions regulations.

At the recently held 20th Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, Dongfeng Honda showcased a number of new models, including the electric concept car e:N SUV Concept and the first domestically introduced CIVIC TYPE R. The company also displayed the eleventh generation Civic e:HEV, all-new CR-V, and all-new XR-V.

In addition to the new self-owned brand and electrified vehicles, Dongfeng Honda has also unveiled the eleventh-generation Civic HATCHBACK at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition. The new model comes with a price range of RMB 145,900 to RMB 179,900.

The eleventh-generation Civic HATCHBACK is available in both fuel and electrified versions. The fuel version comes equipped with a 240TURBO in-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 134kW and a maximum torque of 240N·m. It is paired with a new "G-Design Shift" CVT gearbox. For those who prefer a manual transmission, the eleventh-generation Civic HATCHBACK also offers a 6MT manual version.

In addition to the fuel version, the eleventh-generation Civic HATCHBACK is also available in an electrified version called the e:HEV. This model is equipped with Honda's fourth-generation i-MMD dual-motor hybrid system, which allows for fuel consumption as low as 4.61L/100km under WLTC comprehensive working conditions.

Dongfeng Honda's product lineup at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition was comprehensive, covering all categories of SUVs, sedans, and MPVs, and offering hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric power options. In addition to the eleventh-generation Civic HATCHBACK and the new electric concept car e:N SUV Concept, the company also unveiled the high-performance CIVIC TYPE R model.

Dongfeng Honda has had a busy year, introducing several new technologies and models to the market. Among these are the fourth-generation i-MMD hybrid system and the Honda SENSING 360 safety super-sensing system.

The company also launched a number of new models, including the e:NS1, a new generation of the CR-V, and the eleventh-generation Civic e:HEV and new XR-V. These models are expected to see strong sales in 2022, with the CR-V projected to sell over 210,000 units, the Civic expected to sell over 140,000 units, and the XR-V projected to sell over 100,000 units.

Dongfeng Honda has stated that it will continue to focus on electrification, with the strategic layout of its electrification brands centered around the "e:N" brand and e:HEV/e:PHEV strong electric smart hybrid models. In 2023, the company will also launch a new self-owned brand focused on electrified vehicles.

At the product level, Dongfeng Honda will continue to release the e:NS series and PHEV products. By 2025, the proportion of electrified products within the company's lineup is expected to reach 50%.
