Employees say that Twitter has reduced the types of free meals, grilled shrimp...etc

As the new boss Elon Musk began to cut the company's operating costs, the buffet in Twitter's New York office on Monday has changed, and grilled shrimp and other meals are no longer on the menu.

On Monday, the restaurant offered only two types of macaroni and cheese and a salad buffet, but no meals such as grilled shrimp, an employee said.

Musk has previously taken issue with Twitter's free meals for employees. He previously claimed that the company costs $400 for each free employee lunch.

The claim was refuted by former Twitter employee Tracy Hawkins, who said Musk's claim was a "lie."

Hawkins tweeted: "We spend between $20 and $25 per person per day for breakfast and lunch. This allows employees to stay focused on work. Office attendance is between 20% and 50%."

An internal email sent to Twitter employees reveals that Twitter's free food and drinks are moving to a "partial payment" model .

According to people familiar with the matter, in the future, most Twitter employees will pay for most of the meals provided by the company out of their own pockets, and Twitter will no longer pay for departmental team building activities.

The content of the email sent to employees shows that Twitter will reassess the level of subsidies issued to employees in the future and may reissue them when the company's financial situation improves.

Twitter representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
