Land Rover Defender Pure Electric Vehicle to Launch in 2025 with 483 Kilometer Range

The Land Rover Defender is a beloved and iconic vehicle known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities. It is no surprise that the company is looking to introduce an electric version of this popular model. According to recent reports, the all-electric Defender is set to be launched in 2025, with a range of 483 kilometers or approximately 300 miles.

Not only will the electric Defender be released alongside a facelift of the current combustion engine model, but it will also be available in three different versions: the standard Defender 110, as well as a two-door 90, and a long-wheelbase 130. This means that there will be an electric Defender option for a variety of needs and preferences.

In addition to the information previously mentioned, it has been revealed that the electric Defender will utilize Land Rover's new MLA platform. This platform is capable of integrating both an internal combustion engine and an all-electric powertrain, which means that the Defender could potentially offer a hybrid option as well. The MLA platform is already being used in the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, both of which are set to release electric versions in late 2024.

In terms of its power source, the Land Rover Defender EV will be equipped with a 100kWh battery pack. This is a significant size and is sure to provide plenty of power and range for the vehicle. It will be interesting to see how the electric Defender compares to its combustion engine counterparts in terms of performance and off-road capabilities.

It has been noted that the electric Defender will be very similar to the current combustion-engine version in terms of design and features, with only minor cosmetic differences and the obvious change in the powertrain. However, it is possible that there could be an upgrade in the infotainment system as well as increased use of sustainable materials in the cabin.

In terms of pricing, the current Land Rover Defender has a starting price of $55,100 in the United States. It is expected that the electric version will have a higher price point, with estimates ranging from $75,000 to $80,000. There may also be a high-end version available for over $100,000, potentially to compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQG.
