NIO Announces Deployment of Third-Generation Power Station and 500kW Ultra-Fast Charging in 2023

NIO, a Chinese electric vehicle company, has announced plans to deploy its third-generation power station and 500kW ultra-fast charging in 2023. This marks a significant milestone in the company's efforts to expand its charging infrastructure and support the growing demand for electric vehicles.

According to the official announcement, NIO plans to build more than 1,700 power stations and over 20,000 charging piles in China alone. In addition, the company will construct 538 new battery swap stations around the world, bringing the total number of stations to 1,315. This includes 346 expressway swap stations in China, which are part of the company's "5 vertical, 3 horizontal, and 8 large urban agglomerations" network. To date, NIO has already built 13,384 charging piles in China.

These efforts will greatly enhance the charging capabilities of NIO's vehicles and make it easier for drivers to find a charging station when they need one. This is particularly important as the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow and more people look to switch to electric transportation.

NIO's third-generation battery swapping station has implemented a new three-station coordinated battery swapping mode, which reduces the battery swapping time by 20%. It also has an increased number of battery positions at 21 and a daily service capacity of 408 times per station, a 30% increase from the previous generation. This new battery swapping station utilizes the world's first HPC bidirectional high-power liquid-cooled power module developed by NIO, which boasts a maximum efficiency of 98% and a charging and discharging power of 62.5kW.

In addition to the third-generation battery swapping station, NIO is also introducing a 500kW ultra-fast charging pile with a maximum power of 500kW and a maximum current of 660A. This charging pile can significantly reduce charging time, with the 400V model able to charge from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes and the 800V model able to do it in 12 minutes.
