Despite the fact that the 3008 is currently available in two intriguing plug-in hybrid models, the manufacturer has announced that the popular medium SUV will debut a light hybrid version with 48V. This technology will also be offered on the large 5008, which is now the sole non-electric Peugeot in the company's passenger car lineup. According to what we know so far, Peugeot will be the Stellantis group's first brand to introduce this mechanical innovation. It will soon be available for Citroen, Fiat, and Jeep models, among others. The purpose is to reduce emissions in order to comply with rules. The 3008 and 5008 MHEVs will be powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder Puretech engine with 136 horsepower and a 48V battery. In comparison to the present EAT8 torque converter, this engine will be paired with a new automated dual-clutch gearbox designed specifically for these cars.

According to Peugeot, as compared to a non-hybridized gasoline block, this new one can reduce consumption by up to 15% under identical conditions. This is due to the fact that it occasionally switches off the gasoline mechanics. The firm even specifies that the 3008 and 5008 will be able to go a kilometer without burning fuel if done at a very low pace and without completely accelerating. Because of this, both cars will wear the Eco environmental certification. The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 MHEV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2023. We do not yet know the pricing, but they should be approximately 35,500 euros in the case of the first and around 40,000 euros in the case of the second.
