Tencent's "Honor of Kings" Reigns Supreme as Top-Grossing Mobile Game in February

Tencent's "Honor of Kings" continues its dominance in the mobile gaming world, holding onto the title of the best-selling mobile game globally for February 2024. Sensor Tower's store intelligence data reveals that the game raked in a whopping US$248 million (approximately ¥1.8 billion) across the App Store and Google Play during the month.

This reign was further solidified by the game's strategic launch of limited-edition skins commemorating the Year of the Dragon and a wave of substantial content updates coinciding with the Spring Festival celebrations. These festivities fueled a surge in sales, culminating in a single-day peak in February and a 6% month-over-month increase in revenue.

Following closely behind "Honor of Kings" is Scopely's "Monopoly GO!" which secured the second-place position with US$244 million (approximately ¥1.771 billion) in revenue. The American market proved to be the cash cow for "Monopoly GO!", contributing a significant 79.2% of its total revenue. The United Kingdom and France followed distantly, accounting for 3.9% and 2.8% of the game's revenue, respectively.

Rounding out the top five best-selling mobile games for February are Dream Games' "Royal Match," Tencent's "PUBG Mobile" (combined with "Peace Elite" revenue), and "Roblox."

Global mobile game spending reached US$6.5 billion (approximately ¥47.19 billion) across the App Store and Google Play in February 2024, reflecting a 7.7% year-over-year increase. The United States maintained its position as the top spender, contributing nearly US$2 billion, which translates to 30.5% of the total global revenue. China's iOS market trailed behind at 20.1%, followed by Japan at 13.7%.
