Tesla to offer Dolby Atmos support in its cars

An upcoming software update from Tesla should bring a considerable upgrade to the audio system of its cars. According to its sources, Tesla has been working with major record labels for several months to bring Dolby Atmos to Tesla vehicles. Once the software update rolls out, more than 1 million Tesla vehicles currently on the road will support Dolby Atmos, as will all new production vehicles.


Dolby Atmos is a 3D surround sound technology launched by Dolby. It was released on April 24, 2012. It breaks through the traditional concept of 5.1-channel and 7.1-channel. Sound effects; create a more realistic sound effect from far to near; add speakers in conjunction with the ceiling to achieve sound field surround, show more sound details, and enhance the audience's viewing experience.


Early last year, Lucid Motors was the first automaker to introduce Dolby Atmos to its Lucid Air sedan. This fall, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz revealed they would also be bringing Dolby Atmos to their cars. Volvo's EX90 SUV will support Dolby Atmos, while Mercedes-Benz is supporting the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and its EQE, EQE SUV, EQS and EQS SUV The EV offers Dolby Atmos support.
