Porsche revealed its 2023 911 GT3 RS in Monterey during Car Week last week. Now, just two days later, the company has revealed a special edition exclusive to the US market. Called the "Tribute to Carrera RS" package, this example has a host of customization options made possible by Porsche's Exclusive Manufaktur program, which allows users to customize their cars to their liking beyond the standard option sheet.

Tribute to an icon

The car in the images is uniquely styled to pay homage to the first Carrera RS 2.7, with a white finish and loads of Python Green detailing, including on the graphics and forged aluminum wheels. There are also more subtle touches, such as the "RS" logos on the wing side plates and the "Carrera RS" door sills. The taillights even come with a blank outer ring, thus eliminating the red coloring, an option only available with the Exclusive Manufaktur program.

Kjell Gruner, President, and CEO of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) said, the United States is the second home of the 911 and a special tribute to our market. It is the perfect way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Many of us love the original RS from 1972. We want to create an experience that combines exclusive options on the new GT3 RS, along with a special set of items. It will be an exciting way to pay tribute to the RS lineage. This is a project alive in its early stages, created by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, a coordinated effort of our colleagues from Zuffenhausen, Flacht, and our team in America. The ideas and concepts are really exciting and we are having a lot of fun developing them. All of us look forward to sharing more details with you shortly.

No changes under the hood

Like the standard GT3 RS, Tribute to Carrera RS examples will get a 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine that makes 525 horsepower thanks to a redline set at 9,000 rpm. Torque is delivered to the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK gearbox. Thanks to the new aerodynamic elements, the total load reaches a maximum of 860 kilos at 285 km/h. There's also active aerodynamics for the first time, allowing the driver to take full advantage of the model-specific body panels, as well as its dramatic rear wing.

Porsche says the "Tribute to Carrera RS" package will have limited availability but doesn't say whether the version will have a set production number. Considering that a normal GT3 RS can exceed 250,000 euros, we suspect that this package will not be cheap. Deliveries are expected to begin this coming spring.
