The selection of the fourth batch of reserve astronauts in China has started recently

According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, in order to meet the needs of the follow-up mission of the manned space project, the selection of the fourth batch of reserve astronauts in China has been started recently.

A total of 12 to 14 reserve astronauts will be selected this time, including 7 to 8 space pilots, 5 to 6 space flight engineers, and payload experts, including about 2 payload experts. Aerospace pilots are selected from among the active pilots of the three armed forces, aerospace engineers are selected from scientific research and engineering technicians engaged in aerospace engineering and related fields, and payload experts are selected from scientific researchers engaged in space science research and application-related fields.

The selection of reserve astronauts, organized and implemented by the China Manned Space Engineering Office, is expected to be completed in about one and a half years, and it is the first time to select load experts in Hong Kong and Macau.

Astronaut selection, also known as astronaut selection, refers to the process of selecting pilots who meet astronaut selection conditions and making them truly qualified as astronauts according to certain standards and procedures. The selection of astronauts includes the selection of reserve astronauts from specific groups of people who have obtained training qualifications, and the selection of flight crews for a space flight mission, involving clinical medicine, aerospace medicine, psychology, and many other disciplines.

To become a real astronaut, there are two stages of selection. The first stage of selection is to select qualified candidates from ordinary candidates to become reserve astronauts; the second stage of selection is to go through long-term astronaut training, select the real astronauts who can take on the mission from the reserve astronauts.
