Three astronauts from the China space station wear one set of space suits together

The Shenzhou No. 14 crew of China's space station has successfully completed two out-of-vehicle missions. Some netizens noticed a detail. The names of Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu are also written on Liu Yang's extravehicular space suit. , the three astronauts wore the same suit successively.

Recently, the China Manned Space Engineering Office officially answered some questions about extravehicular spacesuits, such as the service life of extravehicular spacesuits and personnel adaptation.

First of all, the service life of the new generation of extravehicular space suits is 3 years and 15 times, and the working time of a single time is 8 hours. If it expires or reaches the limit of the number of uses, it will try to repair it on-orbit, and if it cannot be repaired, it will be abandoned. The current plan is to replace it in two batches.

Secondly, due to the limited space of the space station, the development cost and transportation cost are extremely expensive, so the extravehicular space suit does not need to be one set for one person, and the suit is tailored. According to the configuration of the Feitian extravehicular spacesuit, the "one-to-many" fitness principle is adopted, that is, a set of clothing is worn by multiple people, and passive fitness and active fitness are combined, taking into account individual and common requirements.

At present, there are three sets of extravehicular space suits with red (A), blue (B) and yellow (C) ribbons in the Chinese space station. In line with the principle of prolonging the service life on orbit, the frequency of use of the three sets of extravehicular space suits should be balanced as far as possible in the selection of each out-of-vehicle mission.

Finally, regarding the future extravehicular space suit, the China Manned Space Engineering Office stated that China's design idea is a modular, lightweight, multi-purpose integrated design.

At 0:33 on September 2, 2022, Beijing time, after about 6 hours of outboard activities, Shenzhou 14 astronauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang, and Cai Xuzhe worked closely to complete all the scheduled outboard activities. The mission, Chen Dong and Liu Yang returned to the Wentian experimental cabin safely, and the first outing of the cabin was a complete success.

At 17:47 on September 17, Beijing time, after about 5 hours of outboard activities, Shenzhou 14 astronauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang, and Cai Xuzhe worked closely to complete all the scheduled tasks during the outboard activities. Staff member Cai Xuzhe has returned to the Wentian experimental cabin safely, and the second outing of the cabin was a complete success.
