United nears deal to order dozens of Boeing 787 Dreamliners

People familiar with the matter revealed that United Continental Holdings Inc. is close to reaching an agreement to order dozens of Boeing Co. 787 Dreamliners. A deal between United Continental Holdings Ltd and Boeing Co could be reached as soon as this month.

If the deal goes through, it would bring billions of dollars worth of revenue to Boeing. According to Boeing's latest public price list, the price tag of each aircraft is about 300 million U.S. dollars before customary discounts.

The Boeing 787 is an ultra-long-range mid-size airliner launched in December 2009. Due to production defects, Boeing stopped deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner at the end of 2020.

Boeing has resumed deliveries of the Dreamliner nearly two years after a freeze on deliveries, following successive manufacturing and regulatory issues. In August, Boeing delivered a 787 Dreamliner to American Airlines, the first plane to resume deliveries of the model since it was suspended.
