Weilai (NIO) Sees Record Power Exchange Orders on Expressways

NIO, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, announced today that its single-day expressway power exchange orders exceeded 20,000, and the total daily power exchange exceeded 60,000. This marks a new record for the company and is a testament to the growing popularity of EVs in China.

Free and Unlimited Battery Swaps During Spring Festival

Earlier this month, NIO announced that during the Spring Festival, free and unlimited battery swaps will be performed on expressways. From January 13th to February 5th, all NIO car owners can enjoy unlimited high-speed free battery swap services (except for operating vehicles). All NIO high-speed swap stations will operate as usual, and some urban swap stations will adjust their business hours.

Road Service Replenishment Stations and Charging Stations Set Up

In addition, NIO said that it has also set up road service replenishment stations in 44 cities, 51 high-speed service areas, and scenic spots, as well as charging stations in some urban areas, to provide car owners with charging, daily travel replenishment, and other services.

Expansion of Battery Swap Stations and Charging Piles

NIO plans to build 538 new battery swap stations around the world in 2022, and a total of 1,315 will be built, including 346 expressway swap stations, and complete the layout of the "5 vertical, 3 horizontal, and 8 large urban agglomerations" high-speed battery swap network in China. A total of 13,384 charging piles have been built. In 2023, NIO's third-generation battery swap stations and 500kW ultra-fast charging will begin to be deployed. In China, it is planned to build more than 1,700 battery swap stations and more than 20,000 charging piles.

Growing Delivery Volume

In terms of delivery volume, NIO will deliver 15,815 new cars in December 2022, a year-on-year increase of 50.8%. In 2022, NIO will deliver a total of 122,486 new cars, a year-on-year increase of 34%; as of December 31, 2022, NIO has delivered a total of 289,556 new cars.

These latest announcements from NIO demonstrate the company's commitment to providing convenient and efficient power exchange services for its customers. The expansion of battery swap stations and charging piles, as well as the growing delivery volume, are all positive indicators for the future of the EV market in China. NIO's record power exchange orders on expressways also reflect the growing popularity of EVs among Chinese consumers.
